The Magpie way

Identity isn’t one‑shotted. It’s built, layer by layer.

01

Every save has a reason.

You write it. One line, while it’s still fresh.

02

Your taste stays yours.

Magpie won’t pick for you. It just asks good questions.

03

Planning is king.

Win it in the preparation. Build after.

04

You have the final say.

Always. That’s rather the point.

Collect

Save it with a reason

Paste anything that catches your eye. The card asks “Why did you save this?” right there, while the feeling is fresh. One line is plenty. Future you will thank you.

From the Magpie board

“Love the soft gradient.”

Connect

Connect like magnets

Images, links, notes: anything sticks to anything. Drag an arrow near a card and it snaps on. Label it “same mood” or “start here,” and the thinking lives in the links too.

“Everything can connect to everything, and a magnet comes in a lot of shapes.”

Take it somewhere

Take it somewhere

Done thinking? Pack your references, whys and connections into one brief and carry it to the tools where you build. They start from your thinking, not a guess.

Where does it go? →

From the Magpie board

“You are cooking something, grabbing recipes to make something.”

What caught your eye?

Go on, save something. The card will ask you why. That’s the whole trick.

Proof, not promises

A real board, with real whys.

We built Magpie’s identity in Magpie. Three cards answer who it is, what it does and how it feels. Even the ideas we dropped kept their reasons.

Founders starting a product

Think it through before you build it.

Brand, product and flows on one board, so your first build isn’t a guess.

FAQ

Nosy questions.

Fair enough. We ask a lot of them too.

Do I really have to write a why every time?+

Yes, one line. That’s the habit that sharpens your taste. Can’t put it into words yet? Hit “Can’t explain yet” and the card waits in Review until you can.

How is this different from a moodboard?+

A moodboard shows what you like. A Magpie board also knows why you like it and how the pieces relate, so you can actually build from it.

What can I put on a board?+

Images, links, notes, components, products, swatches. If it caught your eye, it belongs.

Where does my thinking go when I’m done?+

Wherever you build. Magpie packs your references, whys and connections into one brief that your next tool or teammate can read.

When can I use it?+
